Joe, just a few thoughts to ponder.
They probably put December 22nd as a target date of telling people.
Before then, they might of been trying to shoot to before Christmas
release but did not want to tell anyone that because of the obvious flame
that goes on if they miss a projected date. When the 22nd came and the
patch was not ready, they release a better estimate of early 1998 since
they were going to be gone for a 2 week vacation. No need to release a
patch and with no tech-support to go with it.
I remember the saying that December 22 would be just an
announcment...nothing more. Should be pretty happy that there is going to
be a patch period. They could of just said the hell with it and put it in
for N3.
