One tip...

Some ABIT Motherboards are not compatible with NetGear 10/100 NIC Cards.  I
know the KG7 is one of them, and it's a recent board.

Not sure why.  I don't use NetGear NIC's, but I know it's been a nuisance
for some.

I have no doubt the problem is ABIT's since I know of no other
incompatibilities, but the fact remains the two don't go together in some
cases.

I have my eye on these two, also. Comments anyone?

Also has anyone used the home phone line network method?
HPNA I think is the standard?

I'm not sure.  I'd review the ABIT Newsgroup...

I know the KG7 has problems.

Mate, I got an ABIT KT7A-Raid with a Netgear NIC, and o'course the
netgear router I mentioned before.

I have never had any problems with the two, and that goes with for the
various bios updates I have used (now using the newest one).

I guess the problem you mention must be related to the KG7.

I've got a netgear NIC on my KG7, and it's working fine.  I've only had it
for two weeks, so not a very complete test.  This might be the last post I
send before it blows up.

Hey Mick, for the money... I recommend using a Linux router.  There's
a simple job out there called FREESCO (www.freesco.org)  All you need
is to un-mothball that old 486 machine and get three EISA NIC's to put
in it.  For your home network of 2 computers and one printer you're
all set.  Freesco can run from a FLOPPY if you wish, and it has a
print server, a web server, NAT and firewalling, and is simple enough
to set up.  Minimal expense and you have a 'sisco'
router/firewall/printer server...

It is definitely a problem with the KG7.  Netgear cards are considered
off-limits with this board.

Don,

You should review the ABIT newsgroup for info on this issue so you don't end
up chasing your tail if it causes a problem you can't figure out.

It may have been corrected in a later BIOS release, but KG7 Bioses after 5E
are so flakey I've never bothered to upgrade myself.
