Before I mention the race, I'll start with the ending.. ..
I won a Championship race at Pro level (100% race) and the ending is
abysmal!! No video, no animations, well, just that 3 second clip that
you see even if winning the Quick race.
In GP1 there were extra animations for a top three positions in a
championship race but it seems to me that GP" has no 'visual reward'
for a win. If I actually win the season it strikes me that this kind
of imagination will just produce the words 'GAME OVER. ;-)
Seriously, I note there is an anim folder which contains the files
'Trophy.smk, Season.smk and WinChamp.smk' Are these reserved for the
end of the season and is there really is no video for winning in the
Championship? Maybe there is a bug here?
Anyway, Being the mad passionate fool that I am, I decided on a Pro
championship season with full realism. I crashed out in Brazil but
Pacific was something else...
In the lead, 2/3 of the way through and preparing for a pit stop,
Engine problem, revs drop and I nurse the car around Hair Pin corner.
get to Redman corner and see black smoke in my mirrors. Switch to
external view, am on fire. I make it to the pits and (unrealistically
but happily) its all fixed pronto.
Back in race in seventh place, chasing Alesi, Bang his engine goes on
a corner, -no sound effect tho :-( and Alessi is history. Later
chasing Coulthard for 3rd place, Bang - Berger who was in second is in
flames, pass the wreckage and move up a place.
I eventually win because I nudged Schu (sorry pal) into the gravel on
the last lap. - Hey, maybe the program is really m***and wouldn't
give me a video cos I won using Damon Hill tactics <g>
Did have a small problem staying on the track at Pacific tho, not
because of the car but because I kept noticing such great graphic
touches as the flash of cars or marshall flags up in the hills when I
was down in the lower part of the course.
Well, I wonder what Imola will hold for me, not a great winning/losing
anim, that much I know - Never was one to let all the plus points get
in the way of one minus point <vbg>
Vroom vroom BANG whoosh ***it ***it.
