Little bit OT: nic card

I probably already know the answer to this, but I'll ask just in case. I
have a linksys lc100 nic card on a windows xp box. Motherboard is the epox
8kha+ . So, at the bottom by the clock,  I get "network cable disconnected"
flashing on and off. It's really bad when I boot up, then just stops after
about 20 mins or so. Bad nic. card right? I moved it to a different slot,
changed cables and moved it on my network hub. No change. Unless I am
missing something. Oh, newest drivers as well. Thanks in advance,

Well you've ruled out the cable and the hub port
so I would be looking at the card, and possibly
investigating issues with that card/mb/OS combo.
(try search google groups for those keywords).

Do you lose your link light on the card and hub
as well?  This might be a good pointer to whether
you are looking at hw or sw.

Other than that - if your "hub" is a high end
switch, I know some of them can shift a port
offline but this is usually only during negotiation
like if you plug a 10/100 into a cisco switch
it takes 20-30 seconds to come online.

Don't you get that message if other computer on network is not powered on.
Think I've seen that before, message is misleading.

This just started happening with this setup so I think compatability isn't
an issue ( been running it for a year now). I do see the light on the card
and the hub blinking as it does this ( the hub is a cheapo 3com home
connect). I have 2 other computers on this same hub and don't have the
problem. I think I just need to go out and buy another nic card, they are
cheap enough. I just hate buying something I don't need. Thank you for your
help,

If you have two other pc's on the same network, why don't you swap cards for a test?  If the card
doesn't work in the other machine, but the other card works in the currentl problem machine, you
know its the card.
