Just tried out GPL glance and i seem to have a problem. As soon as i turn
whell the screen starts flashing and jerking, does anyone know where im
going wrong. I use a voodoo 5 card

Try turning off AntiAliasing

V5, 1.08 drivers,  with 2x FSAA, 30/70 settings, wheel input only, works
fine here. Maybe try the increase priority check box?
