I've noticed the surge lately in making affordable racing***pit mock-ups
to mount yer wheel and monitor in for racing. Plus, i'm sure those of you
who also frequent the aviation sim newsgroups, have seen what some pure sim
junkies do to re-create aircraft***pits (including buying whole retired
aircraft just to use the nose section).
Anyway, i was wondering how a shucked out Atari Hard' Driving would work.
Its been eons since ive been in an arcade, so unless theyve put newer sims
in the old cabinets, im gonna guess these things are gathering dust.
The overhead pivot pedals and adjustable seat were the balls. It just seems
like an ideal setup, and wondering if its been done or not.

Well, there was many types of***pits for Hard' Drivin.  Some had a bench,
others had a simple seat and finally one had a realistic driving position.
The last two had a seat adjustable from a front lever.  It's a good idea if
you have many people who hop in.  Most of the cabinets simracers use are for
their own personal usage, so the necessity for different racing positions
isn't really essential.  But I remember a guy or two who dusted out one old
coin-up racing cabinet and transformed it for racing sims.

If you ever think of doing that, give us some updates ;-)

I didnt have plans on building one. I just thought that the full feature
cabinet (adjustable seat, and the sides somewhat enclosed) would be ideal
for a retro-fit. Just curious if anyone had done it.. :)
