I'm looking for a decent Kart sim.  I have Open Kart and would be hard
pressed to call it a 'sim'.  It tries very hard to emulate it, but
comes off as a kiddie (read playstation) wannabe.

Any ideas?  BTW, I live in the US so I imagine there are a lot of
European titles out there that aren't available in the US.

Hi Mike.
Here in Europe, there is a game called Super 1 Karting Simulator. I'm not
sure if it is the same as your Open Kart, maybe other people can fill in
here, but it was not very well distributed, so it was a little hard to find.
Nowadays, I think it is very difficult, but there are some online Grand Prix
for this Super 1 Karting.
I'm from Denmark.

I found it at Walgreens in Wichita Kansas.  Grabbed it for my son and well I
have logged more seat time with it then he has. The FA Karts are a blast,
well they all are fun but the AI seems a bit better suited to the faster
Karts at least for me.  The slower ones seemed to be easier to win races
with.

I would love to find some guys to run Super 1 Karting with online. I am
probly slow, but the games a blast.

The best to date is Super 1 Karting. You can download it at
http://realguide.real.com/games/?s=game_download&sub=super1karting for about
$15 US.

I could if I had a high-speed connection...  :(  Darn Comcast, they
told me I'd have in in October.  I guess they forgot to mention what
year...

Not that the phone company is much better.  They said I'd be able to
get DSL by April/May of next year.  Wonder *which* next year it'll end
up being...

I just picked up Super 1 Karting at Electronics Boutique for $14.99 a few
days ago.

If you look at a thread I started a few days ago ("Super 1 Karting"),
you'll see that I had some problems with getting it to run at first--
mainly due to the strange file organization on the CD.  I also had to
download this patch to get it to load:

http://www.gamesarena.com/support.asp?page=games/superkarting

But once I got it loaded, everything ran great.  Fun little "sim".  By the
way, if it matters to you, it does not support split-axiscontrollers.  Not
a killer for me, but I would prefer not having to change my controller
settings from split- to combined-axis every time I decide to play it.

Definitely worthwhile.

Well I would say Karts being so different fron 60s F1 cars its hard to
really compare.  I like the game a lot tho.  Its fun and you have to really
work to go fast.  Having never driven a Kart I could not say if it feels
correct, but it does give you a good feeling and I like the graphics a lot.

I couldn't have answered that question better myself, David.  Well put.  Bottom
line is that it's fun.......
