Paris-Dakar Rally First Look

Hi all,

Today we take a 'first look' at Acclaim's upcoming Paris-Dakar Rally game,
which should be released June 30th:

"Acclaim announced the game some time ago, but it's not until now that we've
finally been able to lay our hands on some detailed information. Coming soon
for the PlayStation 2 and the PC, is the first game title in the Dakar
series. Paris-Dakar Rally will consist of 12 stages, each over 25km long.
Race across North Africa, from the jungle on the coast, through savannah and
sand dunes and enjoy the wonders of Egypt."

The First Look and the screenshots can be found at

Enjoy!

Thanks, I liked.  I just really dislike those developers who show us
previews yet even mention if it's a game targeted at the sim market or the
arcade market.  They fully know that by making it some sort of unanswered
question, both groups will have interest in the game.  Pure marketing ***I
say :(

They didn't gave you ONE clue Kenneth about the sim-potential of the game?
I mean let's remember it's from the guys who gave us the incredible SOS37,
so I doubt they will be able to please the sim-market with their approach.

the Dakar series. Paris-Dakar Rally will consist of 12 stages, each over

What do they mean the FIRST GAME TITLE IN THE DAKAR SERIES?    Can we expect
more in the future?

As for in-car views... Remember all the ***ing around here about CMR2 and
the lack of incar screenshots prior to it's release, yet it's probably got
the best LOOKING cars of any rally game on the market, and with the
exception of not seeing the broken glass, the incar views are stunning!

I'm holding out hope that Paris-Dakar will come through... Your probably
right, it will be more arcade than sim, but it's the first time ANY game
developer has tried their hand at this awesome event!

I for one am e***d and am anxiously awaiting a demo before I pass
judgement on this one!

I don't know if the game is any good or not but I believe that with the
licencing fee they PROBABLY (I don't know but things don't come free in
video game world) want to make a HUGE series of it just to get into their
costs, so get ready for PARIS-DAKAR 2002, PARIS-CAPETOWN (a few years back),
then you'll have "the peugeot expansion pack" or the "Vatanen years" and so
on...
