VR using -nointro

>"c:\games\sierra\Viper Racing\Viper Racing.exe" -nocanary

While that will stop the intro from playing, it will not stop the
initializat6ion of DirectShow, which ***s up DirectX on some
systems. To use the real nointro flag, use a command line such as this
one-

"c:\games\sierra\Viper Racing\Viper Racing.exe" -nointro

VR using -nointro

AFAIK the "...Viper Racing.exe" -nointro option does only work in VR 1.1!
Did you already download the patch?
Otherwise try "...Viper Racing.exe" -nocanary, if you have installed fully
installed VR.
