The 1.04.00 drivers did not and do not wreck GPL. Adjusting them wrongly
may give you lousy results. Older versions of the Voodoo drivers actually
were incompatible with GPL in certain ways (way back in the olden days of
1998), and there were about 10,000 posts here on the topic over a long
period of time. That's why it makes a difference whether your claim is
exaggerated or just plain wrong.

It has worked perfectly with 3dfx drivers since then. Many people have
gamma setting problems and many people don't know how to adjust the advanced
settings of their Voodoo card, which suggests that the documentation is
weak, since it is not an isolated incident. Many people overheat their
Voodoo card, especially by overclocking it and it locks up (including in
GPL). However, there is no problem with GPL and Glide drivers that any of
the rest of us know about.

I'm a computer no-nothing who just wants to drive so here's my bit on
voodoo2/3
the v3 only worked for me with gpl 1.2 / DX7 / 1.04 Drivers. I also
overclock my AMD k2 by 50mhz and my v3 2000 to 170mhz and I can't say I've
had a lock up. I use plenty of ball-bearing fans maybe that's the key to
that one.
Hope that set-up works for you , 'cos I know where I'll be posting if I do
*** things up
Cheers , Bog
