What difference do you suggest for the race setup compared
to the qualifying setup?

And what about a wet race? I can't figure out what difference to
make to the setup. Is it just more downforce?

Paul.

I always use the same setups for race and qualifying.  I usually qualify
first and finish first.  So, I assume the different setups don't make
that much difference.

Try more front brake bias.

I have no certain track records in my head right now, but I can't imagine
anything else than that the track record is beatable without cutting some
esses. The track is well designed for no wings and that should make your car
go wheeeening by the others  :-)

Well I was playing with my editor the other day and wanted to see how fast
the car can go with 999 horsepower.  I forgot to change it back when I went
back to drive it and guess what.  There was a noticeable power increase.
I don't know how this could have happened but after a few spins I switched it
back.

The editor's readme file specifically states that there is no way to take the
human-driven cars past 716. Have you been playing around with the exxcutable
and not telling us??

As I remember from the time I got the f1ed editor, there was a notice saying
that no matter what you do with your own setting of your car (716 -> 999)
there will be no change when U actually drive it. The game itself always
sets the self driven car to 716.

Tim, who loves competing with all the others on 999!  *giggle*

You've got less grip from your race tyres for a start, plus a heavy fuel
load- so more wing needed for race. Tyre conservation will also require
a more stable car to avoid sliding too much, so close the difference between
front and rear wings (though I personally prefer a 'loose' setup - easier
to handle power w/out traction control).

Depends where you want to be strong in the race. If you want advantage
over the opposition early on, shorten the gears (to pull all that fuel!) and
increase wings for stability and better grip. Obviously you want best
_overall_ advantage so dont overdo it :)

You should take advantage of Q-tyre grip and acceleration. The improved
performance allows you to lengthen gearing and reduce wing settings for better
speed.

I dont race wet races because the computer cars will kill me - 900hp versus
716 just isnt fair. The difference is fine in the dry, but in the wet
I go insane w/out my traction control 8-(. However, I havent raced a wet
race since I started playing the game, so I shouldnt comment here.
