I was one of the people that waited for GP2 to be released all the way.
I have earlier enjoyed IC1 and 2 immensely, and was very enthusiastic
about GP2. I bought the sim when it was finally released and loved it.
But now, after reconsidering the game (the love at first sight ended), I
must say that I don't consider GP2 as a complete sim. I can't understand
how Microprose could move the release date to this extent, and still
deliver an incomplete game? Are they planning to deliver upgrades to all
the GP2 owners, so that the game/sim actually contents what a serious
sim should do, like:
Weather (I love the races where the wheather changes)
Use of all the flags (described in the manual)
Some sort of adjustable car damage (to escape from a crash in 150 mph+
without damage is ridiculous!)
Network play
Why can't I turn off the car textures (this texture is of no purpose
when racing)
GP2 is a great sim, I drive a lot, but I must admit I'm very
disappointed with the lack of features. In this respect IC2 is a much
more complete game (and it isn't necessarily second to GP2 as a sim,
either). Microprose actually displays a lack of respect for all racing
sim enthusiasts out here by delivering a limited game lacking several
important features...
PS: By the way, are there anybody out there that has played Geoff
Crammonds first racing sim, REVS? This was the racing game to first
catch my attention, I think it was (considering the older times) a
brilliant game (I played it on BBC)...
