I was wondering, since they added the new rule with yellow flags at
ovals. Will Papyrus add that patch with their latest patch?

IN case you dont know, all the people on the lead lap line up on the
inside now, and the people who are down a lap stay on the outside.
This adds for some exciting racing as we saw in Milwakee! Al Unser Jr
Got burned though.. :)

Another add on patch, is the surprising success of the Honda engine,
and the Firestone tires.. I'd like the excellence of those tires be
upgraded in IC2..

Just an opinion, but I think the yellow flag changes have come a
little too late and close to the release date of the patch for us to
see them included.  I think it must be difficult to mirror the CART
season so closely, and some sim fans don't seem to realize the amount
of programming it takes to include some of the wish list items that
float around in this newsgroup.

I would love to see things as realistic as the season itself, but I
don't see how Papyrus (Sierra) could do it in the time frame we'd
expect them to...

I highly doubt we will see these changes in ICR2 as it is based on 1995
season, not the current season.

This would be a great patch, but it's probably WAY too late to see it
in any form in ICR2.  Maybe ICR3?  Or the patch for ICR2Win....

Judging by the success of Goodyear tires at Milwaukee (finishing 1st,
2nd, 3rd, and 4th) that advantage might not be all that great for the
rest of the season.  We'll have to wait on it....

I (like, ironically, Andretti) don't like the new rule, and I hope it
doesn't last too long. It turns the race in to a drag race, which
certainly is a "drag" in an IndyCar race. Thats because somebody set
up on harder compunds (Unser) doesn't have a chance against somebody
running softer compounds. Having a few lapped cars between the lead
cars is more "natural" (insofar as anything to do with yellow flags is
"natural")- it is, after all, one of your aims if you are ahead of
somebody, to get as many lapped cars between you and him as you can. I
know that yellows take the space away between cars on the same lap,
which is interesting. But taking away lapped cars too, that seems to
be pushing it to me. Remember, it is also unfair to the lapped guys
too.

Who was it... Sneva, I think, at Indy500 trials, said that there would
be no problem getting people lapping at 300 MPH with today's
technology. We're intentionally holding ourselves back, mostly by
removing downforce. I personally would be awed to see cars racing at
300 MPH, but I guess the racers feel it isn't possible to... stay
alive long at 300! In that sense, I think ICR2 is pretty good- even
with the better tires this year, we'll see less downforce next. Speeds
will probably stay pretty near where they are for a long time to come.

I would like to see variable rules that could be set.  Why not just
have a preference called "Yellow flag style"?

You can do this if you exit and save the game.  Restart
at the same track, from the previous game.

Although the cars will be single file, they will be ordered
based on position and current lap - ex: Lead lap, 1 lap down,
2 laps down, etc.

I like the old method of restarts better in both the
game and real life. If a faster car can get past some of
the "moving chicanes" in the pack of slower cars, that
effort should be recognized.
The old method also rewards teams that can
make faster pit stops.

IndyCar admits they are making these new rules
for entertainment value. It seems to clash with traditional
racing tradition.
Hmmm... and these are the guys upset
over the INDY 500  25/33 qualifying rule.

I was surprised that Al Jr. said the rule was good for the fans, even though
he DID get hosed...

Even Michael admitted that he won because of the rule...WOW.
