Where can i get G. Crammond's first GP1 game???

by Fuji Sarton » Mon, 16 Apr 2001 18:02:12

Hello,

I used to have this game but lost it. This is the game that made me
fall in love with Formula 1 and subsequently made me buy most other
'iteration' of F1 sim games.

Anyway, where can I get this game? Is it still sold in stores? If not,
do you know where I can buy it?

Thanks.

Hi,

You might be able to find it in a compilation.  I saw it in a
compilation with a few other oldies for quite cheap.  Sorry I can't
give you more info than that.  Also you should look to pick it up in a
bargain bin, swop shop kind of environment.

I can understand the sentiment of wanting to own the original again,
but believe me, you won't want to play it for too long.  The modern
versions are just so much better.

Or, if you can't find the original, goto

http://www.theunderdogs.org/game.php?name=World+Circuit

It's a nice site by the way, to check out any old classics.

In my opinion, the best of the "old" games to play today is the
original Indy 500.  Only one track though, of course.
Playability-meter off the scale :)

Regards,
Ian

Do you want the game so you can play it on your old computer?  If so,
you haven't said which computer you want it for as it came out for
various platforms, the main ones I believe being for the Atari, Amiga
and the PC.  Though, from re-reading your message I guess it's the PC
version that you're after.

However, one potential option would be to download an Atari or Amiga
emulator for your PC along with the appropriate version of the game.
I'm sure this is possible.  Unfortunately, if it's the original PC
version you're after then I doubt this can be done the same way.

I found it on an abandonware site some time ago, cant remember where
though, do a search for abandonware.

Could never get it running though, keeps asking for a word out of the manual
and the download did not include it, anyone know where to
find the manual or anyone got a copy they could scan and upload to
alt.binaries.simulators.autos

I thought there used to be patch floating around that made the "word from
the manual" always be MONZA.

Zip is fine here, just d/l'd it myself.  Give it another shot &
remember-don't d/l more than 1 file at a time from his site.  I got
banned once for that. <g>
