with it you can trick the computer into thinking a directory on your hd

and then try and run the game.
Hope this might help

You men the program subst. But this doesn't work, because the program checks the mscdex- driver!
even a cdrom-emulator (cdemu2) doesnt't help !
.. so what can I do ?

It doesnt, I think the program your talking about is called FakeCD.

It does not work with GP2. We gave it a try last weekend, in a attempt to
sort a problem when playing a multiplayer game, using the `old fashioned`
and restricting null cable link which has this annoying habit of asking
for the CD in both machines at different points, causing a relay system of
man handling the CD from one machine to another.

Why would you want to do this?  Are you running on a 1x cd-rom?

Indeed GP2 has a cd-rom check (probably multiple checks).  Your best
bet is to crack gp2.exe (take out the cd-rom checks).  By doing this,
I thing you are breaking international copyright laws.  Read the small
print in your manual.

The program is called "FAKECD".  Do a web search and you'll probably find
it.

I'm trying to find a way to do this too....

First off, before I get flamed, I _did_ buy the program - for $49.95
from Babbages, on the first day it was available in the US. I play my
games on a laptop, and do not have a CD-ROM drive for it. I use a
lap-link to my work PC to install the games ( I did this with ICR2 and
Nascar ), then play them from my hard-drive.

Can anyone tell me how to do this? I waited almost 10 months for this
game to come out, payed my $50 for it, and can't play it! And please
don't say spring for the external CR-ROM drive - I don't have the $300
right now....

Thanks,
Keith

Yeah, I'm in the same position, except that my laptop can accommodate
a CDROM internally, but it costs $450!!

This game is so good, only a jerk would pirate it anyway...

                        HELP!

I've seem something [a programme] called "fake_cd.exe" that makes the PC
thinks you are running from a CD ROM while it is a HD.

Sorry, I don't have it so don't email me for it ;-(

GP2 won't work with that. :( At least I didn't succeed... I also bought GP2
and tried to run it from network cd-rom, but surprise...

That kind of copy protect is not very nice. If you buy a product, it should
be usable also from network cd-rom. There was only one way to play the game
I bought: I managed to get a crack! Sorry Microprose... It would be too
expensive game if I had to buy my own cd-rom too, because everything I
have neededso far, have worked from the network drive.
