HELP with Microsoft VM? not installed

by Plowbo » Wed, 21 Aug 2002 01:41:20

Not a direct quote but Microsoft site reads to the effect that they disabled
the install or up grade of Microsoft Virtual Machine after July (I think
this year) but I need to put it back on an XP machine that did have it?  I
had HD trouble, and had to stick in a new HD and decided to fresh install
instead of any type of resurrection, only to find out VM wont install.

This machine is for my boss (but his home machine), and he likes to be able
to even play on MSN that game Bejeweled (http://www.racesimcentral.net/) and
so does his wife and kids...  so it looks/seems funky that all of a sudden
after "I fix" his computer that he cannot run this game or some websites...
security be darned, lol.  Can anyone tell me where I could fix this problem?
like anyone else happen to have the vm install files somewhere?  or can I
find it on an older XP install disk?

Thanks in advance guys/gals..

I'm not certain, but I thought that Virtual Machine was now installed
automagically as a component of the latest version of Internet Explorer.

I've got MS VM on Win98SE, and I use IE version 5.5. I'm pretty sure that
I have never downloaded VM as a separate component to my new system.

I could be wrong on this, but maybe you should upgrade your browser?

Sun now provides a replacement for Microsoft's out-dated virtual machine
with their new Java 2 Plug-in ( http://java.sun.com/getjava ) for Internet
Explorer and Netscape

YOu can still get the MS version over at www.onlineracin.com in their
support downloads. There is also a version from Sun. I have heard oof some
issues with the Sun version so you may what to go with the MS version.
