I had it, and might even still have it tucked away on a CD somewhere.
As a Quake mod it was brilliant.  As a racing game I doubt that anyone
here would be interested.  The tracks were very arcadey and very small
due to the limitations of the Quake engine.  Plus you did not have
direct control of the car, you essentially used mouselook and the normal
Quake movement keys to tell the AI driver what to do, and it managed the
controls of the car for you.  Again, really unique and brilliant for a
Quake mod, but definitely not a proper racing game.

Well, I'll be dipped.  Wonder why they did it.  Must be more Q fanatics than
racing gurus.  Thx for the comeback.

Why they did the control scheme that way?  Possibly because they knew
most of the people who downloaded it would only have mouse and keyboard
for control, but more likely because one of the authors, Ryan Feltrin,
was very interested in AI.  As that page notes, he went on to write the
Eraser bot for Quake 2, which had excellent AI and was considered by
many to be one of the best bots published up to that point.  IIRC he was
also quite a car nut.
