GT2: Release disputes

OK, so here's the score.  Gran Turismo 2 is already out in Japan
(released 11/24), but what about the US?  Sony still says it will ship
12/7 w/a shelf date of 12/8.  Fine and dandy, but a lot of stores say
1/3/2000!  Game Cave is the only one that has it listed for the 12/8
release.  So, who's correct?!  Personally, not just because I want it
real bad, but I think Sony's right, and that it will be released 12/8.
They will definitely want a game this popular to be released just in
time for the holidays. This game will without a doubt rake in tons of
money.  With 594 cars and 28 tracks, some real life, I'm definitely
game!  Everyone keep your fingers crossed! 8-)

Japanese version of GT2 was delayed too. It looks like out
12/11. Damn! =(

Rumours over in rec.games.video.sony are that some manufacturer is
upset about the way they have been portrayed in the game...

It's not out in Japan, yet.  I believe that the latest date for Japan
is 12/11, which I'm desparately hoping will stick.  I'll be getting
the US version, too, but I've no idea when that'll be out (Sony's
insisting on relesae by Christmas, but all the shops apparently don't
think so).  Unfortunately, I'm doubtful about Sony's estimates (which
will hurt sales if the game doesn't make it out by Xmas).

I think that the console-game oriented websites would be mentioning
that GT2 is shipping if that were indeed the case; doesn't seem so.
