Do you reakon a Remote Control Car racing game would be like.
I mean, you stand on the podium and watch your car going around the
track,and using keyboard\Joystick\wheel etc...
And you could buy brands like Kyosho and Tamiya.
Good idea?Or just another thing...

hey, this sounds pretty cool!  How about Losi or Associated...(maybe
after you win the local track championship and pick up a sponsor...?)?

I can think of one reason not to make a R/C Sim. The real thing is cheaper
than buying a computer to run the sim:)

Might be a little before your time but it would probably look
something like the old arcade game "SUPER SPRINT".  Could be really cool if
you could modify your cars and control the setups ie: spring rates, shock
settings, wing size/angle and tire type.  That is, after all, about 80% of
the challenge in RC racing.
I haven't used my Tamia Hornet seriously since I got my drivers
licence 7 years ago.  Maybe I'll charge up the batteries tonight and see if
that thing still works.

That would be a good idea, although I'd still rather see a drag racing or
sprint car sim. I mean, I can go race my T2 anytime for the real thing. To
make an R/C sim really take off, there would have to be a way to design tracks
and tune the vehicles, change the motors, spur and pinion combination, shocks,
hop-ups, different tires for varying track conditions, etc. There would be
four (or five) minute races with a set amount of time between each race to
work on the car and fix anything that breaks. Money could be simulated as far
as if you break a part and can't afford a new one (and someone won't lend you
one), you're out of the racing for the night. Corner marshalls would have to
be simulated, with both people who are actually paying attention to the race
and can turn your car over quickly to those who are sitting there watching the
race and take forever to get you going again (and then step on your truck
when they aren't paying attention, but that's another story :[ ). I could go
on and on about what would be needed in a R/C sim, but I think just a basic
sim wouldn't be that hard to do.

Acutally, though, when you think about, Nascar 2, etc. are like R/C driving
sims, especially if you drive outside the car.

one thing to consider is that there is an adaptor to plug a RC controller
into a game port.

btw: there IS a RC "sim" , but it looks really cheap and runs on a 386

Yea, and you could race against Joel Johnson too.

Try the Micro Machines games - they're a bit like driving
an RC car.  So is Death Rally, come to think of it.

ahhh I used to run R/C cars..... paying $200-$300 for just a
graphite chasis, titainium axles, very expensive battery packs,
entry fee to R/C races, and that's not including if you break
something... Yea I know I am talking about a higher level of
R/C racing than going to Kmart....but the basic formula in
any form of motorsports is .... $ + TIME = SPEED.

Yeah Sounds like a good idea. Maybe if you won more races you would decide
to put more money into your car, You could even simlate special tools like
camber measurers, so if you bought one you could more accurately set-up
your cars. Or if you got a motor lathe it would make your motor last longer
and run smooter.

You could earn experiance points so that you can fix your cars faster, and
maybe if you loan someone a part than their more likely to loan you one,
say respect points or something. For realism this would be a "hidden
feature" Instead of having 10 points experiance and 16 rspect points
printed out on the screen.

How bout make it so you have to turn matial too?

You could make an offroad sim and an on-road sim.  Papyrus? Tower Hobbies?
Somebody want to pick up this idea?

Just some thoughts..

Well...sometimes not.  I race electric off-road buggies, and have about
$850 invested in mine.  But that's electric.  And that's off-road.  For
an on-road fuel-powered speedster, like Italy's BMT, you're looking at
$900 for the kit and radio system (assuming you'd like to be competitive
and have a two-speed transmission, taking it to 70+mph, high compression
head on your engine, programmable radio) and then $250+ for spare parts
and an engine starter.

Not exactly your Wal-Mart deal or Tyco R/C (Maximum Heat! -giggle,
giggle-).

I run (whenever I can) an RC-12LS on a carpet roadcourse; I can't really see
a computer able to simulate that little bullet.  With a 12x1 motor (modified)
it just goes too fast.  Just remember, REALITY HAS NO FRAME RATE.  And I don't
think a Rendition card will help it, either.

Or maybe RC pro-am, a fabulous game on the old Nintendo. Gameboy also.
It was very cool.  You had the sensation of real RC racing.  Compared to
other games like Mario 1 or Metroid, it was rocking !!!   :)
Thanks a lot,
