The folks at Carousel One (who recently released the 4-cam Lotus 38 Indy
car) have just released an absolute masterpiece: Dan Gurney's # 36
Spa-winning Eagle-Weslake.  It's perfect in every tiny detail, right down to
some blueing on the titanium exhaust headers, and looks just like GPLEA's
Eagle, maybe better.

This is only the second 1:18 die-cast model from the 1967 season; the other
being Exoto's Lotus 49 (there is also a 1:20 die-cast of Surtees' Honda
RA300); I'd love to have the rest (particularly the brutal-looking
Cooper-Maser Tipo 81), but it will probably never be.

You can order it direct from Carousel One for $129 at 888-332-5645 (I got
mine from ***ar: 800-348-9159).  Better hurry; the model is limited to
9,999 pieces and will probably sell out quickly.

The gap round the front suspension looks a bit too big and the ride
height is a bit high but apart from that it looks great.

Certainly on my 'buy' list.

Hmmmn...you may be right abt. the gap around the fr. susp., and Frank
Dalton, the head of Carousel One, admitted the front ride height just might
be a scosh too high, but on the whole, this is the best die-cast since
Exoto's Sauber C9, doncha think?

Gorgeous!
In my humble opinion, these are the two most beautiful open-wheel racing
cars ever to turn a wheel; Dan's AAR F1 Eagle and Colin's Lotus 38 (Well -
maybe the Lotus 25/30 is in there too :) ).

God - if only the exchange rate was a little more biased our way! :)

Regards,
Bruce.

The Lotus turbine cars were beautiful shapes, but by then their flanks were
all gunked up with clashing advertising graphics and garish STP colors.  And
white sidewall tyres?!?!?  Prior to the Eagle's era, the Maserati 250F
(particularly its swan song, 1957's 12-cylinder long-chassis variation) and
the even-earlier Lancia-Ferrari D50s were gorgeous open-wheelers, but I've
never seen a "popularly-priced" die-cast that could recreate proper-looking
72-spoke wire wheels.

>Gorgeous!

I bought the 38 last week at a car show here in Holland, there was a
special Lotus part with all kinds of Lotus cars from the '60s and
'70s. Also the son of Colin Chapman was there. Had a great chat with
him and he signed the 38 for me :)

It was 150 euro, a lot of money but this was a once in a lifetime
chance :)

I also bought the 49 (from the brand Quartzo, not as detailed as the
38, but it was 40 euro)

A car of Clark, I forgot which type it was :-/

Me and Clive Chapman

(Sorry ladies, I'm allready married)

and me and some babes. I admit dutch carbabes are not the most
prettiest in the world, but at least I found one with big.. eyes:

Hmm.. this picture confirms Newton's theory I think.

Hey, darn. Going by the ad I supposed it was going to be all modern
Lotus stuff. Had I known they had some '60s Lotus stuff up there, I
might have gone to the show myself.
