Only a few laps on both tracks, but so far, like what I've seen.

- ditto on the graphics comments.
- haven't noticed the setups being anything terrible.
- no controller problems at all (TSW2 stock)
- but until the online is known/tried, who cares <g>

Forgot this; really like the realistic way to recover from a spin, unlike
03.

Show stopper - only 2 joysticks so my Speed7s aren't recognised

My Speed 7 and Momo force work fine. Haven't tried the BRD wheel yet

> First impressions:

> 1. Jaggy graphics

> 2. Spectator - no***pit view

> 3. Show stopper - only 2 joysticks so my Speed7s aren't recognised :(

> 4. Menu and general interface much better than anything EA before.

> If I feel like reassigning my pedals O'll do some laps tomorrow.

EA NASCAR Demo Is Released

As mentioned above, but worth noting as it was something they got
right:

Controller input (setup) is excellent. Even my TSW2, which usually
causes "some" problems right out of the box, worked flawlessly. Simply
select the item, push, turn or click the controller and away you go.
Almost Papy like!

Recovery from a spin actually works, you know opposite lock! Wow!

Downsides:

This quote: "Users of L.C.D. displays, especially laptop displays, may
experience
noticeably decreased performance when running the game at any
resolution
other than the
native resolution of the L.C.D. display which is usually 1280x1024."

That was posted above from the readme. Guess what? There is no
1280x1024 mode offered. The highest I saw was 1280x960, both 16 and 32
bit.

Same problem for me. It looks pretty good in 1280x960 32 bit though, and
frame rates are high. Looks better than N2003 in a lot of ways. People need
to make sure they have anisotropic filtering turned on in display
properties.

EA NASCAR Demo Is Released

Maybe it's just me, but I figured I'd ask. Does anyone get the
impression that driving the cars it feels like drving a boat? The first
impression I got was this thing is floating and wallowing around all
over. I had no sensation of what was happening.
I've never driven a stock car, but I never thought it would feel like
driving a boat. Is it me or the setups? Maybe it's the new physics? So
far it just feels like something is  wrong with the demo to me.

Does someone have a decent setup for the tracks?

Maybe that's why the warning is there. 1280x1024 mode doesn't exist, so
the image quality will suffer.

Looks like I won't be trying the demo then (but it looks like I wouldn't
have been impressed anyway, so no great loss).

Looks good? For me it looks worse than N3 at 1280, its so bad that you cant even judge where the track is going to go.

John,

You need to try it for your won edification. I have run it since it came out
and am not reviewer and won't attempt it.

What I have read previously is true, and false. It was only after I saw,
drove, messed with all the settings that I satisfied my own curiosity.

I appreciate what you say (I read this group daily and have for years, just
don't post much).

So do a girl racer a favor and try it. I am interested in YOUR opinion, not
your opinion based on others comments...

;-)

I get that same feeling, or lack of ZZ.  Larry was just telling me that he
feels like hes floating in GTR, I can only imagine what his impression of
this thing is :)  IMO its a horrible effort and totally on par with all the
other EA crap.

I dont think EA has ANY clue what a true simmer wants.

Not floating.  More like flying over the surface.

Hovercraft!  That's it!  That's what an ISI based game feels like to me :)
