Nice 2 versus Motorhead: I told you...

by Jeroen van Engelenhove » Tue, 12 May 1998 04:00:00

Just played the Motorhead demo. Now this is the kind of demo that made me
say the Nice 2 demo is the best driving demo until now (see my earlier
messages)! In the Motorhead-demo you can race one lap in one car on one
track. There's no competition, nothing. You are dead alone out there. And
after the 'race' your back on the desktop. Now that's what I call crap.
(Tip: you can turn around and drive the other way: then you'll have three
whole minutes to 'enjoy' yourselves...). I have to say this is one of the
saddest attempts I've ever seen to get customers buy your game (except for
the Burnout 'demo', maybe...)

BTW: I really don't know why reviewers are so e***d about this game: it
should be the fastest ever! It's just as fast as any other racer (apart from
Nice 2... :-)!!! It's a shameless copy from NFS 2 SE, only now you can skid
the cars around the corner better (arcade likewise) and you can only drive
at night... (according to the screenshots I saw earlier). The graphics have
exactly the same atmosphere as NFS 2 SE: they are nice but they make you
feel lonely. There is just not enough scenery around. It's dull all over. No
matter how many 3Dfx enhanced lights they put up. The track design is also
very uninspired. The three Nice 2 demo tracks are way better, specially the

show that in the demo?! Man, I'm glad I didn't buy this game (thanks to the
Nice 2 demo, which fulfilled my arcade racing wishes last weekend).

This is the first game that I will not buy just for the execution of the
demo.
Downloading 10MB just to turn one lap, then beeing blocked for 10
seconds in
the ad screen before returning to the desktop!
