CART Racing version question

by J. P. Hovercraf » Sun, 26 Mar 2000 04:00:00

Hi all,

So... I've bought two versions of  "CART Racing" in the last couple of
days, neither one had the Rendition files...8^(.

Where I work, there's a Sierra multi-game package called "Editor's
Choice Collection." In it, there's "Front Page Sports Golf", "Caesar
II", "You Don't Know Jack", "Rama" and "CART Racing (formerly IndyCar
Racing II)." Can anyone tell me if this version of CART has the
Rendition files on it?  The game box illustration on the back of the
game box looks more like the "Papyrus/Sierra CART Racing" box shown on
Allison's "CART Racing Versions" page than it does any of the other
boxes shown on her page, but it's not identical. Hmmm...

I got the boss to agree to hold it for me until I can verify the
version. Obviously, I want to do the conversions to GPL with David's
converter. Can anyone verify that this is either the Rendition version
or not? Any help will be much appreciated. The other ones are going back
to the store or Sierra as mis-labeled as they both have the Rendition
logo on them...grrr.

Thanks,

Go to http://simracing.com/alison/gpl/cart/cart.htm#buy on Alison Hine's
site, she has a comprehensive breakdown of the various ICR2 and CART
versions.

A similiar product was released in Australia it had three of those
games mentioned and was given away when you bought certain Sierra
games including GPL.

I picked it up seperately on a bargain table in EB the other day for
$5.

This contains win95, DOS and rendition versions. If you drill down
through the directory structure you will see a rendition directory.
The converter seems to find the hq directories once you tell it where
the root directory is.

Hi Tim and all,

Thanks for the info! I'll be bringing it home Monday and converting to my
hearts content, with any luck and Allison's help.

before you buy take a look once more at your cart cd's.  The rendition
section is practically hidden.  You need to go into the dos folder first
and there you will see a rendition subfolder.  Inside that is a complete
version of CART with the 5 3d tracks.  If you've already done that.
please ignore this message :)

Hi David,

Thanks, but yes, I did check every directory on the CDs. No "DOS" folder at all
in either one...I'll post again Monday to confirm and let Allison know so she
can update her "versions" page.

CART Racing version question

by Suppor » Tue, 04 Apr 2000 04:00:00

Hello all,

I just wanted to publically thank all who responded to my CART version
question. As mentioned in another thread, we have a remarkable group of
people here. I had two offers from people to send me the Rendition
version disk, one as a gift and one as a loan. Unbelievable!

As I previously mentioned, I found a Rendition version in the Sierra
"Editor's Choice" pack. With a friend's help, I've scanned the box and
sent the images to Allison Hine, who will be adding the info to her
ICR2/CART version's page.

Once again, thanks. I'm being thrown out of my workplace now so I won't
go on, but all RASers should count their blessings at the community
that's been established here.
