Las Vegas - Driving into the corner

I was watching qualifying tonight at Las Vegas, and DW said that the right
way to drive this track is to drive into the corner, rather than lifting and
then turning.  I watched the first few qualifiers and sure enough, their
speed didn't drop until they got down to the apron.  Then they dropped down
to about 150, but came right back up again and accelerated out. Then I tried
to do this in NR2003 with both the fast and the Jasper setups and ended up
putting a lot of paint on the wall.  So I went back to the NR 2002 driving
lessons and there DW shows a more normal driving style (btw he also said
that if you try different lines you will have to use different brake
points - maybe he should have told his brother that earlier tonight).  Has
anyone tried driving into the corner?  What would it take to get this to
work?

I have the same problem in Las Vegas  (paint in wall, I mean). I've entered
some online practice sessions and seen the driving lines of the fastest
drivers (it's great to "ride" in their***pits) and they do exactly the
same thing: lift very late and take a high line.

I'm still unable to replicate this, PB is at 32.3 and I have a league race
this evening...

This wasn't really a high line though.  It was hard to tell what they were
doing with the camera views that were shown, but it looked like they just
turned in to a very early apex in 1 and 3, scrubbed off speed very quickly
once they got down to the bottom, then rolled back in and drifted up the
track again in 2 and 4.  I tried again today, and no matter how I turn in I
can't scrub off enough speed at the bottom to keep it from going right back
up into the wall.  Don't know, maybe it was some weird qualifying setup and
we won't even see this on race day, but I would still like to know what they
were doing.  Hope your race went well btw.  ;o)

Well after watching the race it appears that what I saw unique to
qualifying.  During the race most of the drivers seemed to be rolling out of
the throttle at turn-in, like normal.  Maybe their qualifying setup had
enough extra downforce to allow them to drive in deeper.  Still like to know
how to do it.

When you find out let me know.  :)
Still trying to figure out how one can overdrive a setup at Las Vegas.
