NASCAR 2 - NETWORKING

by Don Wilsh » Fri, 10 Jan 1997 04:00:00

Race Track Promoters:

We are currently trying to determine the best ways to use the
PAPYRUS NASCAR 2 networking feature.  The purpose of this
feature is to allow up to 8 drivers race against each other.

For Your Information we are working with different promoters
using different NETWORK configuations.

They are:

1).     Novell or Microsoft peer-to-peer IPX using either
        ethernet or ten-base-T connections.

This is simple find 8 computers in a room, find 8
friends with LEGIT copies of NASCAR 2.  Get a couple
six packs and place some restraints on all the
drivers.  Anyone's heartbeat that exceeds 150 is
locked down until his face isnt red anymore.

2).     Purchase an IBM/SHIVA 8235 REMOTE IPX dialup box
for about $2500 and 8 modems.  The 8 modems and
this box will allow your friends to call you
from anywhere in the country.  This is being
        tested with 3 dial-ins and 2 locals.  And a
second site which has 4 dial-ins and 4 locals

a).     With this configurations you dont need
restraints on the remote drivers as they cant
        hurt anyone..

3).     The last configuration we are attemping to gather
information on uses WINDOWS 95 or WINDOWS NT and
uses the RAS software.  The system supports
7 dial-in modems and uses DIGIBOARD.  This system
may be the cheapest with 8 player implemenation for
        under $1200.00.  7 dial-ins and 1 local.

Of course this is all FREE!!!!  And this auto-simulation
configurations can be used to support.  Grand Prix 2,
Monster Truck Racing, Big Red, DEMO DERBY, Quake, Duke Nukem
Doom and all the KALI supported games..

Since we have literally no information on networking in the
current literature any experiences and configurations would
be greatly appreciated so we can all know and share this
information..

Thanks
