GP2 new tracks

by Antoine Renaul » Sun, 24 Jan 1999 04:00:00

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've last played GP2, been into GPL since it's
been out.  I went to http://www.racesimcentral.net/ (very interesting site
BTW) and saw there's a lot of new tracks already.  And when I say
alot, I really mean _a lot_ (kudos to Mr Paul Hoad for an excellent
track editor - Although I can't figure it out right now!).

My question is simple:

Who's the god in track editing?  I mean when we wanted excellent GP2
carsets a little while ago, we knew whose carsets to look for (P.K.
Arnall, Pat Painter, just to name a few).  Now what's the name that'll
ensure me a track is worth downloading and installing?  Will I have to
download each and every track and make up my mind all by myself, or is
anyone willing to share his knowledge on this topic?

Thanks in advance,

A. Renault

There's quite a few people creating excellent tracks.

The tracks posted at http://www.gp2.com/ are rated - recommended tracks are
marked "Great".  Most of the tracks can be found at
http://www.grandprix2.com can be found there.

Matti Laitinen, the webmaster, has also created his own excellent track pack
for  the 98 F1 season.  His carsets are also excellent.

Well, I still prefer Grandprix2.com because Matti is not able off keeping
his site up to date...

but to give you the best track, try Circuit-Ultima...
This track has all the best turns in it from all the circuits in GP2.

BTW even the graphics are better then original GP2 !!!

I've been trackediting for GP2 since the editor came out, and I would
say that there is no real "God". However, if you download a track by
Martijn Keizer (e.g Stuwlake), Bob Culver (e.g Roeun) or Addie Walti
(e.g Bremgarten) it's almost guarunteed to be good. And look out for
Osterreichring 1987 by yours truly, hehe! But if you haven't got it yet
get Circuit-Ultima. It's a track produced by all the good trackeditors
(including me, grin) and features the best corners from modern F1 tracks
with matching scenery. You can get it from:

Is Matti going to produce track packs for 97 ? 96 ? or earlier.. I am at
present in my 1978 season on GP2,
but cannot find all the tracks for all the years.!!!
