Taken from your link:

"With Colin McRae Rally 3 due for release late next summer, Codemasters have
released the first pictures of the Ford Focus you will be driving in the
game. Although these aren't in-game shots....."

These are the car models being used to model the 3D designs to be used in
the game.

Still some nice modelling though.  Already made 'em into my wallpaper ;-)

I think not. Look for example at the left rear tyre, the left rear window
and the right rear wheel. You can see the polygons where the real thing has
round shapes.

Must say they look great!

hopefully it wont have to really dodgy physics engine from CMR2 which enabled you to turn on the spot!... cmr1 was better for raw
drive.. :o(

I agree. From the site: "...they are of the actual models which will
be used in the game, and show the impressive level of detail to which
it has been modelled. Somewhere in the region of 13,000 polygons make
up the car, compared to a mere 800 in the last game, and the effect is
certainly impressive. "

So these are the 3d models used? Holy ****, I thought they were photos
at first, but close inspection shows some of the polygons (exhaust
pipe and wheels for instance).

Sensational, lets hope the physics are up to scratch :)

I agree that the models look very good, but at the end they look so *real*
because of the rendering. IMO it's a bit cheap to publish some 'screenshots'
about the cars with raytraced reflections, soft shadows, sunlight systems and
stuff like that, because the game will definitely not render the models in the
same way.

Jani Kajala

i agrre, they certainly also used light diffusion... now they need a raytrace 3D
engine in their games ;o) Good luck codemaster ;o)

uhm yeah, well, great model, but if I may be blunt who cares?  I mean,
it's not like you'll actually get to see any cars when you drive the
damn thing... :)
