New Drivers Make NFS3 Darker?

by Khing Dhean » Wed, 30 Dec 1998 04:00:00

I downloaded the latest drivers from 3dfx in order to see if that would get
me the "dashboard view" from my 12 meg V2 card (yes, I know it should work
with 12 anyway, and no, the new drivers didn't help) and now it seems that
the game is much darker than before. Could the new drivers have caused this?
Or am I simply going finally, completely mad? GPL looks as before to me...

TIA

Khing,
I would make sure that in the game that the wide screen option is turned off;
that could get you dashboards and *brighten* up your day! Don't have a clue
about the darkness thing though, I don't have a Voodoo2.

My NFS3 is dark also and I can't change the gamma rate.  I have tried the
latest
Diamond drivers and I'm using the latest reference drivers now.  On the
track Aquatica, there are sections
that are way too dark, and the lights from the car, I can't see them on the
road.

I need some assistance. EA or Diamond speak up.

Latest Voodoo2 Reference drivers
AmdK6-2/300Mhz 128MB PC100 SDRAM
Two Monster 3D2 8MB SLI config
Diamond Stealth II s220 4MB card.

The latest Voodoo2 drivers seem to have monkeyed with the gamma settings
(it goes through cycles).  Change the gamma settings for your card, not
via the program.

When I installed the new drivers, the gamma correction sliders seemed to
stop working and I can't turn it up bright enough for my liking, so I'll
probably go back to the old drivers.
