Hi Lars,
First of all, its not really a sim - its and arcade game but with
accurate track models and fairly realistic handling and cars. It has
arcade style gameplay (e.g. have to get a certain number of points on
one track to progress to next, and you catch cars up artificially fast
if you fall far behind (7-8 seconds in one lap is not realistic)
As to your system, until the weekend I had exactly the same, but I've
just bought a P166MMX CPU, overclocked it to 188 and the game runs
full speed at high res, very high detail. It looks much better than
the Playstation version if you've seen it. On my old Cyrix P166+ the
game ran slowly (to get a similar framerate I was running medium
res/low detail) and response of the cars to steering also suffered. I
guess the MMX makes a difference to the speed...
The GP1 wheel is fine for the game although it takes getting used to.
On the whole I would recommend it - just don't hope for a full
Nascar-style sim and you won't be disappointed...
