Please HELP

I can successfuly connect Nascar over IPX thru Win95, but not when I
shutdown to Dos.

I currently load:

        LSL.COM
        CPQNF3.COM  ( Compaq Driver )
        IPXODI

Then Load Game

I "THINK" the prob may be in my NET.CFG file.  It reads

        Link Driver CPQNF3
                Frame Ethernet_802.3

Is this Correct ?????

If you can Help or if you can point me in the right direction  (ie..
Newsgroup or Web Page)  PLEASE !!!  Send e-mail with the info.

Thanks in Advance.

Hi,
I am sorry, but thats not the problem. The thing is when you exit win95
when you are using anything including the internet, it automaticaly closes
the program because you have to close all aplication before exiting so
windows does that for you. If you want to race in does get a dos version of
a TCP/IP dialer Kali and N2 dos versions. Then you can race in dos.

He is referring to a LAN ( Local Area Network ), not an internet
connection.  KaliDos is not required to run a LAN game from DOS.  Just
whatever DOS drivers are required to get the network operational.

Anyone out there doing this, and willing to stick the sections of their
config.sys and autoexec.bat and net.cfg in a email or just post it here as
text?  Couldn't be more than a few lines....

No,  I don't have mine up in DOS yet, but KaliDOs is not required to
initialize you LAN.  Just keep plugging until you get the network
operational in DOS, then N2 should pick it right up...

I hope.

David,

I am far from a LAN expert but I had simular problems, it turned out
that my NET.cfg was using the wrong frame type. Try cahnging yours to
...802.2 and see how it goes.

See ya,
Anthony.

It depends on what type of network cable you are using. If you are using a 10b-T cable (looks like
a phone cord with bigger plugs), then this is correct. If you are using a coax cable is should say
"802.2". But, I'm not sure if this matters in N2 so why am I rambling...

You can run it over IPX in DOS. Are you getting a good connection through
netware? TCP/IP is the Internet protocol, but IPX is typically faster for
games and IPX for DOS is the best combo for non-32 bit games. IPX through DOS
is no different then dialing up through DOS. Another thing to check is to
ensure, if you're running 95, that your CD driver is loading when in DOS If
not N2 won't let you 'answer'.

I have yet to try it from DOS, but IPX under 95 works great on my local LAN at
home.
