I have the Creative Labs TNT AGP, Celeron 300a running at 450MHz, Abit BH6
motherboard, 64M PC100 8ns CAS3 RAM, Vortex A3D soundcard, T2 wheel/pedals.
GPL runs perfect with the GPL second beta OpenGL driver and nvidia 0.48
reference drivers. At 1024* 768 resolution I get about 12fps in car at the
start, about 20fps in car after the start. Out of car view, about 20fps at
the start and 36fps after that. Those numbers are with all detail options
turned on and max'd out, 19 competitors, and default core.ini file with
mirror update set to 1. Obviously I can up the fps by switching to 640*480,
but after you have seen 1024*768 you won't want to do that :)

Hopefully nvidia fix the driver problem with the mirror updates and I can get
20fps in car at the start. For now though, quite happy with the current
performance of GPL.

I have the Creative Labs card and cannot get GPL to work with it.  I
don't run reference drivers, so I can't comment on the possibility that
they might work.  The rastorizer provided by papy is a BETA and is not
supported or guaranteed to work.

The latest Riva card is called a "TNT", and they backed off on the .25
chipset til Q1, 1999.  In the meantime, ATI is about to hit the streets
with the Rage Fury AGP with 32mb of onboard memory.  The ATI card is
producing benchmarks that are significantly better tha the TNT.

Caveat - none of the ATI cards  "reviewed" to date are the real magilla,
and if I were you, I'd wait until all the lemmings buy one and report
back on the card's true capabilities/shortcomings.

There's a few available (STB, Creative Labs, Diamond, Canopus - take your
pick.

Got  a Diamond Viper 550 in a PII350 overclocked to 392 (112Mhz on the
Mboard) . Using the Beta 1 Open GL patch and getting 36FPS in 640x480  in
***pit...(less at the start, maybe 20) tweaked core ini to mirror update
every 3

RIVA TNT in GPL?

300a/BH6 combo o'clocked to 450mhz.  CL TNT card at default settings
(though I seem to be able to o'clock it stabily too at 120mhz mem and
100mhz core).  These settings result in stable 36fps at 800x600 with
all graphics and I'm alone.  Haven't tried 1024x768 yet.  On pit road
with 19 AI fps goes down to 25fps until I exit onto the track.

During online racing I reduce a number of graphic options and run in
640x480 to keep fps at 36fps.  With say 4 cars around you fps may drop
to 32fps, but that's as low as it goes.  Only raced online once
though.

Problem with current TNT drivers is that (at least for me), GPL hangs
if I have a screen res of anything other than 640x480 and try and
start racing with this setting.  I need to change the res while in the
***pit (f2) and then make sure I switch back to 640x480 when I go
back to the menu screens.  Hopefully this will be fixed eventually.

I have a Diamond Viper 550, same problem only 640*480. Switched to the 0.48
nVidea reference drivers (www.nvidea.com). Now I can use 800*600 and
1024*768 the normal way. 1024 hits the fps though.

RIVA TNT in GPL?

I have a Viper 550, when I tested 0.48 ref-drivers, I could use 800x600
and 1024x768, but my framerate with a P-II 450 was below 20 :( , my
problem though is that the screen flickers terribly in the menus and
other games as well, the lower edge jumps from half the monitor-size
down to using all of the screen all the time, anyone had a similar
experience and got a solution? My monitor is a Samsung 700p bought about
a year ago, havn't tested with another monitor yet, will do so in a week
or so...
