Indy Add-on Track Pack ?

by John Linderma » Wed, 04 Jun 1997 04:00:00

My local Babbages is selling ICR1 for $19.95 which has a sticker on the
front that states..."New on CD-Rom, IndyCar 1 with 7 tracks, plus the
circuit add on pack which contains an additional 8 tracks, all on one
CD".  But it doesn't state anything about including the Indy track.  Is
this what I need to convert the Indy track to ICR2 & N2, or was there a
different track add-on pack that includes the Indy track?
Thanks, please respond email to:

Nope, there was an additional add-on called the Indy Expansion Pack, or
something like that (I've forgotten the exact name).

If it doesn't mention a "paintkit" then it does not include the Indy
track.

Besides, last time I checked, 8 + 7 is 15, not 16 (which would be Indy ;).

I find it quite amusing how many N2 players are suddenly
scrambling for the Indy track pack... I got it when it first
hit the shelves for ICR1... guess it pays to be a die hard
open wheel fan! :-)

I do applaud those who are trying to get the track through
honest means instead of pirating it... I'll help you all look
and if I ever find another copy, I'll let you know... (don't
ask - I'm not going to part with MY copy!!)

For ICRI, actually there were TWO "Track Packs".
The First one, released in 1994  was named: "IndyCar Circuitts Expansion
Pack, Track Pack" contained 7 tracks:
Australia, Cleveland, Detroit, Elkhart Lk., Mid-Ohio, Phoenix, and
Vancouver.
This also upgraded ICRI to v 1.01

Following that was the Second called: "Indianapolis MotorSpeedway Expansion
Pack" which ALSO introduced a paint kit for ICRI for the first time! This
also upgraded ICRI to v 1.03

Then of course, there was patch version 1.04 from Papyrus.

Last I heard, the only place to buy it at retail (as opposed to second
hand software shop) was at the gift shop at IMS. And no, I didn't
actually see the boxes there, but if someone were inclined to call or
stop in and check, that's a possibility.
