RT Controller hardware help?

by Laurence Wilme » Sat, 01 Feb 2003 20:35:46

I have finally (5 yrs behind here!) rewired my T2 for dual axes.
GPL is a dream - no longer need fear touching the brake, but RT (my other
great fun sim) is a non-starter. I've Googled, read forums, and experimented
for hours but it ignores anything I do - brake and throttle are always
switched around, usually with reversed action.
TMScope works just fine, smooth as silk, (Windows configs twitch horribly -
DX9 problem?). But I notice the brake pedal does seem to work the wrong way
around in both TMScope and Windows, so I'm planning to resolder the brake
pot, switching the wires around and joining the top 2 connections instead of
the bottom 2.
Does this seem sensible? (It seems a good idea to check in case someone else
has better knowledge.)
I wouldn't dare ask any other NG about old hardware, but this GPL NG (!) is
the one place where old things (like me and my T2?) may be considered worth
spending some time on!

Thanks for any advice,

Laurence

Search this NG for posts from me regarding RT and this very issue,
probably in the last 8 months or so.  I finally got mine working.

Gerald

RT Controller hardware help?

Thanks. I had seen those before - swapping brake and throttle in config
screen and reversing values in ini file - exactly what I've been trying for
some time.
Trouble is that RT does not seem to respond to changes made in a logical
manner, which means there's no hope of working out exactly what is
happening, so resort to trial and error with a LOT of variables.
OK, I'll try again (sigh!).

OK, with that encouragement that it could be done without more soldering,
I've finally worked it out. It seems illogical, but there is a method behind
the apparent madness.
If the Y Z controllers are switched in the config screen, then the lines
from which they take values in the ini file are also switched, despite the
"Y axis" "Z axis" comments in the file.
Simple, really, wasn't it?
Thanks - I'm good to go.
