ICR2 Traction Patch?

ICR2 Traction Patch?

by Jack Frillm » Wed, 07 Aug 1996 04:00:00

What exactly is the Traction Patch that I have been seeing references to?

I purchased ICR2 about 6 months ago and was wondering what was it supposed
to fix.

How does the problem manifest itself?

The weight distribution of the car will change over the 1st 15 or so
minutes of time at a track.  Thus making a perfect carsetup turn into a
loose goose the next time you visit the track.

This is most pronounced at tracks like Nazareth.  After spending 30
minutes on the perfect qualifying setup, I would come back after a break
and take it out and the rear would come around even at low speeds.

This bug also greatly affects road courses, even though it isn't as
pronounced.

The patch for bringing ICR2 1.0.0 to 1.0.2 also addresses other minor
bugs.

I'd say it makes a huge difference - between playable but ***y
irritating (almost off-putting) and very playable and suddenly a lot
more fun!

MC> This is most pronounced at tracks like Nazareth.

I've not tried many ovals, but noticed it only a little.

I thought it FAR more apparent in road courses - suddenly I could get
the car handling consistantly, often with nice power slides, through the
twisty section of Portland, drifting through Lagunas corners, staying on
the road around Watkins Glen. If ONLY it had been like this months
ago!!!

Cheers!
