You are dutch and you want to buy a Logitech FF? THINK AGAIN!

Looong time ago, the 30th of November 1999 (well, not that long ago but it
loks like it) I decided to order myself a Logitech Wingman Formula Force.
So, I ordered the wheel online at the shop where I always order my
computerparts. They have great service, order it today, and you will get it
tomorrow.

When I came home on december 1st. I would have expected a receipt from the
mailman lying on the doormat telling me I could pick up my Logitech wheel...
But no... Just some bills and adverti***t ***where lying down there...
Oh well, maybe tomorrow I thought so I turned on my Pc to check for e-mail
and yes some e-mails where waiting for me, including one from that shop
where I ordered the Logi. They told me there was a 2 week deliverytime on
the damned thing...

At that moment I thought hard about cancelling the order, but before doing
so I decided to contact a few other shops.... They all had the same story:
"We sell the LWFF but we don't have it in stock ATM, we can't say when we
will receive them, we ordered them a few weeks ago but nothing showed up
yet."

hmmm... ok.. 2 weeks, I can wait... I think...

Now 1.5 weeks later
When on my way home from school I thought, hey, who knows i might be
delivered... When I drove my car into the street where I life I noticed a
car of the dutch postcompany... After waiting a few minutes before the
maildude reached my house I noticed he slipped that same adverti***t shit
through my mailbox as he did 1.5 weeks ago... GRRR! oh well... They said 2
week deliverytime.... Lets see or someone bothered to sent me a e-mail
today....

Receiving message(s) 1 of 1
aah, mail... THE COMPUTER SHOP?! Probably to confirm my LWFF has been
shipped and that it's on it's way.... GREAT!
But... no... "Delivery time from now 3 more weeks". WHAAAT? Are you kidding
me? Does anyone know or the LWFF is still available anywhere in the
Netherlands?

Waiting 5 weeks is to crazy to be true, get your act together Logitech!
I am seriously thinking about cancelling my order and spend the money on a
new graphics card instead...

Regards,
Sjon Stigter

Sounds like a sensible alternative to me.
Are you going to use the video card as a wheel or as pedals?

Well.. I already have a TSW Sport so I was thinking of using the card as a
clutch maybe? Anyone has better suggestions?

Sjon,

Not that this will help your situation, and I'm in in no way defending
Logitech, but I wanted to get the LWFF.  I live in Canada so I could get the
wheel local at many computer shops.   I went to a lot of stores and no one
had the wheel in stock.  I finaly found one, but paid $50 more for it than I
should have.  It could just be that because the wheel is getting good
reviews, and that it's close to Christmas, that there is a problem meeting
the demand.

Just a thought though.

Scour the auction sites.

I found a reconditioned LWFF (though I swear it is new...not even dust on
it.) for $70 on ebay.

Sjon,

Too bad for you..
I posted a message a few weeks ago here also ( and in some other groups,
some dutch also).
The Logitech wheel is really in no shop at al. I even tried Logitech h.q. in
the Netherlands (010-2438897) but they simply refused to give some info to a
customer. All the shops I trie in and near the Hague could not tell me
anything.

Luckily I was on holiday in Tilburg  two weeks ago and found one at Memo
systems there ( It was the old revision with f1rs and motorhead). Maybe you
could try their other shops, they're to be looked up on www.memo.nl.

Good luck!
