GP3: Why I don't like it.

by Greg Cisk » Wed, 26 Jul 2000 04:00:00

Namely because for the past several months it seemed
that people off handedly slagged F1 2000 with "or wait
until GP3 comes out". My question is how they knew GP3
would be any better. Their assumption is that it would be
better. So this is my revenge :-)

Well GP3 does appear to be nothing more than a W98
port of GP3 with some added weather effects (which I
do believe are great). So I am having a little fun :-)

At one time I was a totally behind the crammond games.
Until it came out that GP2 had the SloMo stuff which
was in World Circuit. I had played both games exhaustively
that could easily win against the highest level. I couldn;t
match the individual lap times that some people were
posting, but so what. Each game was mastered. In fact
once you got the hang of each game it isn't really much
of a challenge.

I really did not have high hopes for F1 2000, but F1RS
was getting tired. Again it seemed like many people
dismissed F1RS because of GP2... Anyway with all
of it's warts, F1 2000 isn't really that bad.

Further I think I have pretty much said my piece with
regards to GP3 and for the most part will leave the
GP3 lovers alone. Unless I need a laugh or something :-)

Cheers...

So GP3 = GP3. Hard to argue with that logic.

Which is exactly why GPL has had such lasting support by its followers.
There is always a new challenge with GPL (for me at least).  The better
driver I become, the more I understand the subtle changes the setup
features allow.  The more I experiment with new setup strategies, the
better driver I become.  Add to this the rich online racing capabilities
of GPL and the other fans that are doing the same thing I am, and you
have a product that continues to be challenging.  While GPL may not have
everything (i.e., weather, new fancy graphics, etc.), what it does have
makes for a GREAT product and next to Indianapolis 500 the Simulation,
it is the one racing simulation program that I have stayed with for year
after year.

Which it may continue to do until the West Brothers show us their
product.  I am not even sure N4 will come close to GPL, but I am willing
to be pleasantly surprised....

GP3: Why I don't like it.

The majority of posts i've read here from people who have had positive
things to say about GP3 have been realistic and have also admitted the
failings the game has.  I don't see any posts here saying it's perfect.
GP3, F1 2000, MGPRS2, none of these games are as good as they should have
been.  They all have good and bad points.
