Midtown Madness - HELP

by Sinj » Thu, 24 Jun 1999 04:00:00

I am trying to win the final 2 circuit races.  So far I have completed and
unlocked all the othe tracks and cars (allowed so far) using the Mustant GT.

However these final 2 circuit races are becoming a REAL pain in my ass.  All the
other opponents are those roadsters which have a totally unfair speed advantage.
I can drive PERFECT laps and only come in 3rd and that's if there are plenty of
other wrecks not involving me.

So my question is:

Am I forced to drive a car I don't want just to remain competiive?

I've tried driving that roadster and the handling is way too squirrely and the
acceleration SUCKS.  It also gets totalled after about 4 hits and both of these
races are in snow so hitting things is pretty much mandatory.,

And what's with the cop car - I finally unlocked the Mustang Cruiser and that
car is a joke - it's slower than the regular GT.  Aside from the fancy paint job
and the sirens instead of a horn I find this car a total waste - certainly not
worth all the trouble it was to unlock.

Thanks in advance for any help...

IIRC, the other cops will leave you alone when you drive the cruiser.

I think the cruiser is about 10 mph faster top speed. Have not tried the final circuits yet.

Why would you not want to drive the car that wins the races?

Well for starters.

The handling sucks.  Both of my final 2 races are in SNOW so handling
is imperative.

The mass is way to light so at top speed you start weaving back and
forth until you eventually over correct and smack the wall.  Very easy
to do in SNOW.

Your wheels are in cowlings which are detached (or rather attached by
the tie-rods only) so any damange to the front-end makes the handling
turn to even worse ***than it was to start.  Nothing like driving a
car that's out of alignment in SNOW.

Even the computer has trouble handling these cars.  I am constantly
passing by multi-car pile-ups - it's just that the car that gets into
first place at the beginning of the race never screws up and always
wins.

THANKS!  I finally beat this bastard using the cop car.  I also had to
do some serious DEFENSIVE driving.  When the roadsters would try to
pass I would push them into buildings or telephone poles or trees.  A
couple times i even got to do that cop-move where they smack you from
behind and they spin out.

The only reason I won was on the final drawbridge I jumped it
diagonally and jumped over a good chunk of water to land just ahead of
the 1st place car which was taking the full right-angle turn onto the
side street.  The final stretch was so narrow he couldn't pass.

I won all the races using the Panoz AIV.  It's not the car, it's you.
