I joined my first VROC online race last night and when we lined up to
race, the revs came up, the adrenaline began to flow, the green flag
fell, I popped the clutch, and every body else disappeared.!!! maybe
some of you online pros can help me?

You gotta put it into gear! <G>   I still get the maddening adrenaline
rush at times on the grid.  As soon as you get on the grid, put in the
clutch.  Then you have to keep trying to put it into 1st gear.  GPL does
not allow you to put it into gear until all of the cars have joined the
grid.  Just keep watching your gear selector until it engages.  Then get
ready to watch for the flagman.  I usually rev to about 80% to redline
while the green flag is being held.  When the flag drops, release the
clutch and give it a little more throttle, but be ready to ease off just
before the tires start to spin.  Get traction and apply more throttle.
It might be helpful to short shift into 2nd if you are experiencing too
much rear wheel spin.
