I was just wondering how many have heard of this sim or have even played
it.
I think it was made by Acclaim and wondered if Papyrus had bought the
rights to it, since this is where I got my first racing sim training. I
got the Bill Elliot version of the sim back in 1988, just interested to
find out the history of the game...I loaded the sim the other night to
show my friend how far racing sims had come and when he saw it he freaked.
Anyhow...back to work now.

Hey Tom,
I didn't think anybody else had heard of this.  I used to play this game
all the time.  I thought it was great that you could do  pit stops and
all.  When I saw Nascar Racing come out, I didn't think much about it.
Then when I bought it and loaded it, WOW!  Let me at it!  I think that
sim endorsed by Awesome Bill opened the door a little to the Nascar sim.
Good to hear from a fellow user.

Papyrus has no connection to this product (other than owning a copy in
our software archives...)

I played BENC to death before Nascar 1 form Papyrus.

The road courses were so crude by todays standards, all flat
and no chicane for Watkins Glen. Just a minor spin and the car
broke up (smashed windscreen) with ball smoke.

Lots of fun and it ran on my awsome 386 sx25, 2 Meg Ram. 512k
video card. Wow.

Went back to BENC for a brief reunion, didn't stay long.

I played this on my Amiga 500.  Actually, I still have it.  I  thought it
was the best sim I
had ever seen at that time.  Then I saw NASCAR 1 for the PC.  Well, I went
out and
bought a PC just for the sim.

The Mac version of BENC is in the filing cabinet behind me.  The
driver's names were neat especially Iggy Nition and Axel Folly! I
could do 187 flat around Atlanta.  I also remember using the same
setup for Atlanta, Darlington and Michigan, can't do that with NASCAR
2!  I also remember once I was doing a Champ. Season and I forgot to
change my setup between Talladega and Sears Point.  I won the race at
Sears Point using a talladega setup, like it made that much difference
with that game!

It's from Konami and I still have it in the closet or attic
somewhere. I could never get the other cars to quit plowing into me
while I was sitting in the pits or in line during a caution. I'd
swerve into the grass to avoid them and they'd come after me!! The
only good thing I can say about it is that it gave me hope that
something better would be made....and then came Papyrus.

You know about that Taladega challenge thing?  Could you flip like Dale
