Unjust treatment at Williams Team

by Fernando Ass » Thu, 31 Jul 1997 04:00:00

Hi Mr. Geoff,  (sorry for this long post)

I wanna make a complaint here. I'm feeling unfairly treated at
Williams. I don't think I deserve to drive such top car, so usually I
take the Larousse.

But for what went I be such modest and good boy? In my last
championshiop season Larousse car got broken just 9 times. What you
say? Would you like to drive a car with such feature? See, I'm just
trying  to use the maximun reality the game offers. For what? That's
only good for the HOF's top drivers (a few in the world).

In order to avoid such nonsense situation I accepted Frank Williams
invitation to drive for Williams team (guessing that you wouldn't
write the game to give Williams such a shame of fragile cars). Well,
in fact, the car number zero is not behaving so fragile after run in 9
of the 16 circuits. But let's see it entirely in the future...

However, today I got my trousers put down. I left the strategy under
control of the team in Hockenheim. They found to give  me  2 stop
strategy, wich I accepted in good faith. I was leading and my mate
Coulthard was second when I made my first pitstop at  about the lap
number 15.

Right after me came the time of Coulthard to pit, so in similar way he
stopped at about the lap number 17. I thought he would make 2 pits,
like me,  because actually we had reached only a third part of the
total race.

Poor me!.. I was just fooled by the team. Although  I  made a good
race and drived without a single fault Coulthard won the race before
me. No need to say he was given one stop strategy...

The funny here is that he stopped at about the same time I had my
first pitstop as to pretend would have also a second pit.  In fact,
would be stupid to me and to anyone to think that:

--  The team would have a dishonest behaviour with its actual best
driver

--  The heavy load of gas and worn tires would not delay the car
(actually, Coulthard continued to have good laps even with such weight
and such worn tires).

--  There would not be an increase  in the time he got stopped in the
pit to fill  with the double of the gas that was put im my car.

Well, as it can be seen, some situations in GP2 don't compare in
anyway with the wonderful part of the game related to all those
performance graphics and some of the car adjustments as well. Why is
so?

I'm not talking about all those bugs, but about something introduced
in the game FOR PURPOSE. There are much of trickery behaviours to make
things difficult in  the game, and one perceives such tricky
atmosphere against him. It's not the level of difficulty in itself
I'm talking of... The game could be difficult and real, wicht would be
fine.

So, why is so? Health problems with Mr. Geoff?
I don't believe so: UK has gotten a such astonishing public helth
system... (wich just should be imitated by any other country, even
USA)

Fernando Assis.
