F1 2002 track loading times

by Uwe Schuerkam » Wed, 19 Jun 2002 16:05:58

Hi folks,

I saw F1 2002 on a friend's machine the other day, and track
loading time are horrible (it takes a whopping 90 seconds to load
Spa for "test day", for instance).

Is this "normal" behaviour or can something be done to improve
track loading times? (it's not a small machine we tried this
on, mind you ;-)

Cheers,

uwe

I have a slow 8GB hd, on my Duron800MHz, with ATA66, and it does maybe take
20secs to load a track..guess something is wrong at his computer.

The tracks do take quite a long time to load compared with F1 2001. On my
ATA100 RAID configured drives, it takes about 30 secs to load Spa, and about
20 secs to load Melbourne.
Not good!

and on my old computer without raid it loads faster or same speed as F1
2001.
Maybe something in the code of the program that makes raid go slower then it
should??

I dont even think about it loading a track, so it doesnt take long time.

don't run any, the box safe behind a linux firewall, the
windows box is *** only.

Only Explorer and Systray are running, as it should be (loss98SE)

BTW, how much memory do the "fast" guys have? The box I'm on
about has 256megs.

Cheers,

uwe

39 seconds for Spa Test Day on my 1 Ghz box w/ 512MB RAM.  Is the game
accessing the CD when loading the track?  Just wondering if maybe he didn't
do a full install...

There's no need for explorer or systray to run.

Btw, the NOCD exe often crashes when I'm changing my car setup, so I've gone
back to using Daemon Tools...
