As you may have heard by now, Jeff Krosnoff and a corner
worker were killed instantly with a few laps to go at the
Toronto Indy.  This was an extremely saddening event at
an otherwise exciting race (which I was lucky/unlucky
enough to have attended).

In order to honour Jeff, I wish to remove his name and car
from my various ICR2 carsets.

Does anyone know how I do this, aside from the obvious one
of replacing his car with different one?

It was an horrific crash.  The worst I have ever seen.  Also in two
separate Bike GP's a rider and marshall were killed when they collided and
then in another gp 4 spectators were killed when debris entered the
crowd!!!!
Not a weeked to remember.

Definitely not a nice weekend.
Add that 4 people were killed and several other are badly injured because
of an accident that occurred during a rally-cross race, and you'll see it's
been even worse than that.

One thing is certain. If one day, playing GP2, I'll see a car go airborne
I won't laugh nor say "wow".

The only thing i could thing of is clicking on white or gray and
pressing clear and then put in blank for all the driver info.

I am doing just the opposite.  To honor Jeff and his memory, he is
staying in my PPG96 carset.  Racing against his car will be a reminder
of my own mortality and helps keep things in perspective.

Actually, those 4 people were killed in France when they were hit by an out
of control rally car.

I agree. I actually bumped up his numbers in the drivers.txt. I did this to give
him the benefit of doubt on what kind of driver he would have become......
Kind of to make up for lost potential.

I think the Gilles Villeneuve fatal accident was the WORST?

And unfortunately, a 5th victim died from injuries incurred in that
wreck.  Makes you look back at the Talladega WC, and Bristol Super
Truck incidents and issue thanks to NASCAR for the extra precautions
taken to ensure fan and driver safety.

Peace be with the souls claimed.

I've just seen some photos of the accident and it's very close to Gilles'last one. Also, I've read that Jeff
was a close friend of Roland Ratzenberger, the Austrian who died two years ago at Imola, a day before Ayrton.
It's terrible to see these things, but the race must go on, not for the show, but for this is just a part of
the game :-(

Perhaps I haven't been paying enough attention to this thread and the
one in r.a.s.indy, but it seems to have been widely overlooked that a
corner marshall lost his life in Krosnoff's crash. Not to take anything
away from the tragedy of Krosnoff's death, but he accepted the risks
every time he climbed in the***pit, knowing full well that he may not
climb back out. The corner worker, on the other hand, was most likely
just a serious race fan wanting to be part of the action, and probably
never considered that one day he may get hit in the back of a head by a
wheel transmitting 350,000 pounds of force.

I don't want to show any disrespect for Gary Avrin, but any corner worker,
with an ounce of sense, would *have* to realize that there is a chance of
injury.  A number of these guys have been hurt or killed over the years.
It happens.

The way Gary died was a one in a million accident, and it's really sad,
but as his (I think) grandmother said, "He was doing what he loved".
