Got a few one at www.bhmotorsports.com

Graphically it looks a bit like Race Driver, also by Codemasters.
Coincidence?

Course not - they're not going to write two graphics engines for racing
titles released within a few months of each other

ISI have used the same one since 2000 ( all be it tweaked )

Come to think of it - good ol Geoff's been using the same one for 7 years.

I like the looks of the tracks, but the cars seem to suffer from over done
lighting. Makes me think a lot of NASCAR Thunder. The cars look like they
are coated in wax or something more than a real reflection. I do think the
graphics need to be sharpened up but that might have to do more with the
pics themselves than the game.

I would find it hard to believe that from GPL to Nascar 4 wasnt a major
overhaul

I always noticed stuff like you mention, overdone reflections and such tend
to look better in motion than in screenshots. But, yeah those cars look
nicely waxed :)

I was thinking more like a candle dripped over them myself.  I really don't
like that effect. It seems to wash out a lot of the details, and makes it
look blurry for lack of a better word.

Probably because its done per vertex not per pixel.

Per pixel shaded reflections would be sharper and less intrusive and washed
out.

I think.

Are you trying to defend Geoff Crammond? :-/   ;-)

Actually, while there are some little code left from the original game
engine (Indy500 until N3/NL), Papyrus has *not* been using the graphic
engine.  In fact, they were 2 major overhauls during the years.

I wasn't defending him at all. I just wanted to point out that most
companies will build upon their existing products rather than start
from scratch every time. Makes sense really.
