Little Formula 1 Announcement - Reposting

by 6488.. » Sat, 29 Jan 1994 12:20:41

This is a repost of the rules as  I had incorrectly posted the document
previously.
Sorry about the inconvience.  Hope you can read them this time

What follows are the rules that have been established
for a simulation series that will be run using the World Circut by
Microprose.  The series is being run from the AmericaOn Line
(AOL) service.  Through their capability to receive mail from the
internet the series director has made some rule revisions to allow
anyone with access to this news group who can send
EMAIL t participate.  I results will be posted by EMAIL.

Another option to participate is to sign up for AOL.  The intial
sign up can be done at no cost for a 1 month trial period which
includes the AOL software (Windows, MAC or DOS versions available)
and file hours of connect time to explore the system.  If you like
it you can keep it for $9.95/month.  This includes 5 hours connect time
additional hours cost $3.50.  AOL supports connections up to 9600 Baud
at NO extra cost and unlike other services the bulletin boards don't
cost extra.  If you are interested send me an EMAIL with your NAME,
Mailing ADDRESS, and PHONE NUMBER (with area code), and version desired
(Windows, DOS or MAC).  I am not sure ifthere is access overseas but if I get

a note I'll ask.  If you can'trespond to this message by mail, my AOL address
is

One other item the directors of this series have been running series
on Prodigy and AOL for the past few years.  They are reliable and
extremely responsive to competitors comments.  They also remember
to post the results.  One the series starts if will be finished.

We are working on how to get the hex file and any other files posted
somewhere
everyone can get them.  I do not have access to an FTP location outside of a
fire wall.
I am not sure how to send DOS files from a mainframe.  I am a novice at
this.  If
someone has access to a place EMAIL me and i'll send out a disk with the
files as soon
after the message.  You can mail to the address I posted from or

This disk would have the HEX file and World Circut Hex editor and the
changes for Nigel
and Marios car on ICR.  Thie director of the LF1 series is Steve Wilson

Well here are the rules:
=========================
Little Formula 1 Rules

1-Simulation-This series uses 'World Circuit' by Microprose.  No other
simulation will be used.
2-Levels-There are two driving levels.  Novice drivers must use
AUTO-BRAKING &  ALL OTHER AIDS ARE OPTIONAL, WHILE PRO DRIVERS MAY
USE ONLY AUto-shifting.  ALL DRIVERS may NOT use indestructable
 mode.
3-Season-The season consists of 16 races.  There will only be one race
each week, but there will be
qualifing.  Deadlines are as follows:  qualifing will be Wednesday at 8 pm
ET, and races will be Sunday
at 8 pm ET.  All races, except for the All-Star Race, are 100% race
distance.  See the schedule for venues  and dates.
4-Scoring-Results will be determined by race time, fastest time wins.
Fastest laps MUST be included with
 the results for record-keeping.
5-Setups-Drivers may use the setup of their choice and start from the
position in which they qualified in
their PERSONAL race.  Drivers that fail to qualify must start in 26th
position.
6-Qualifing Results-Include fastest qualifing lap, qualifing position, the
number of tyres used, car #, team
name, address, and driver name by the deadline stated above.  Drivers only
have four sets of qualifing
 tyres, use them wisely.
7-Race Results-When sending race results, post race time, fast lap, race
report detailing events that
occured during the race, car #, team name, address, and driver name by
deadline from above.  Drivers
who do not include this info, or do not post before the deadline will NOT be
included in the final results.
Results should be posted within 2 hours of the deadline unless otherwise
stated.  If you do not finish,
replace race time with laps completed.  If you do not finish on the lead
lap, replace race time with laps
down.  If you do not finish first, replace race time with winner's time +
your time behind the winner.  In
these cases, DO NOT POST WINNER'S TIME!  Drivers have only ONE chance to run
the race.  No
'restarting' is allowed.  Use the practice sessions given and quick races
for practices.  No late results will
be accepted for any reason except for director error.  All results are final
except for director error.
8-Points-Points towards the Championship are awarded as follows:  1st-10;
2nd-6; 3rd-4; 4th-3; 5th-2;
6th-1.  One point will be given for the pole winner for each class, and one
point for the driver who runs
the fastest lap of the race.  Constructor Championship points are the same
as the Driver's title except no
points are given to fast laps in qualifing and races.
9-Hexing-There will be manditory hex setting files availible for each class.
Drivers MUST use seetings
for their class only.  This may change at any time immediately after
notification is given of such a
 change.
10-Teams-Teams are limited to 2 cars in a race per level.  Otherwise, one
team can only have two cars in
the Novice class, along with two in the Pro class.  Its recommended that
drivers compete in multi-car
teams so they can share setups and racing tips that may and will improve
each driver's skill but it's not
 manditory.
11-Valid results-Please post only valid results for the fairness of other
drivers.  Any results that seem to be
invalid will NOT be included and the driver may face disciplinary action.
12-Where to post results-Post results PRIVATELY to DE3fan.  Divers who
compete through Internet

13-News Stories-Teams are asked to post stories about team happenings like:
teh building of a new car,
the changing of drivers, and other interesting stories to increase the
enjoyment ot the season.  This is not
manditory, but is asked of the directors.
14-Rules may and will change for the good of the series.  Changes go into
effect immediately after
notification is given, unless stated otherwise.
15-Questions-If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please
write to the above addresses for
 your service.
