NR2003 is 95% perfect with Truck and BGN physics, while those two Trans-Am
mode are quite effective.

F1C is a solid F1 simulation that could say with us a long time and will
only become better with time.

That GTR demo... great potential (when the *** will ISI care about
multiplayer?  They have a strong enough game engine now for about any kind
of simulation and Simbin proves that)

For quality fun, LiveForSpeed2.

For arcade fun, Race Driver 2.

GPL'65 is good, not incredible but a good step from the original GPL.

Now if only some of them would have the quality of multiplayer that NR2003
has... it would be perfect.  Who needs Racing Legends?

But where is a good rally sim?? That area is sorely missing. Rally
Trophy has too old of cars for my taste and really isn't in the same sim
vein league as GPL, GTR and F1C.

Agreed, a modern rally sim is DESPERATELY missing. I fired up Rally Trophy a
few days ago for the first time in a while, and I'm still impressed with it.
I really wish they'd just make a modern WRC sim. I guess I'll just wait for
Richard burns Rally..

Richard Burns Rally looks fairly promising.  Some of the preview videos look
a little bit iffy but hopefully it will deliver.  The developers are at
least attempting to produce a rally game with great physics.

Don't forget Netkar!!  I have a strong suspicion that the next few
versions (as well as the 1977 F1 Sim that's using the Netkar engine)
are going to turn some heads.

Netkar is very good.  Where is more information/rumors about this
'77 F1 sim based on Netkar?

thx

> But where is a good rally sim??

I rediscovered SODA/Gripped Racing the other day, installed on an old HD I
plugged into a USB enclosure. That code was superb for its day, and the
handling still gives a good enough impression of realistically handling
vehicles in an off road environment when you sit back and watch the AI
driving. That would have been a great product to build a decent rally sim
onto.

Well, I'll have it as well if you don't mind :-) But you're right, cars
certainly aren't going out of fashion, and sims reflect that.

What sim are you talking about Andrew?  (im just not sure...) "SODA/Gripped
Racing"

Would that be the SODA off road released by sierra or papy back when?  I
still have the CD around here, saw it when I was moving stuff, but without a
rendition card, I figured no way hozay in playing with it.  What did you
attempt to play it on, machine wise?

Runs perfectly for me on a WinXP/AMD1700MHz/512Mb/9800se machine. And yes
it's *that* SODA (released as Gripped Off Road Championship over here).

Visited 'Sierra' lately Frankie?

I count 200 servers and 200 drivers  - If you're really lucky, you'll find
one roadcourse race with a decent field.

Yes, I fired it up about a year ago...The NON3d windows version still
works great.  The Force Feedback is for a codec that is not used anymore so
that portion of the program is useless...unless you have one of the very
very early FF wheels.

Actually, it was papy fanboys like yourself who were crying after they
announced they were out of the business.  Most folks already knew it wasn't
dead.

Plenty of road course leagues though.  Not all of them race through Sierra,
many are private.
