Indycar2 AI fixes?

by Wingm » Thu, 24 Jul 1997 04:00:00

Does anybody have Indycar2 AI fixes?  The problem is when I race at, for
example, Australia, the AI cars zoom around the chicanes while I have to go
extremely slow (probably the correct speed).  The result is that the AI cars
qualify below 1 minute 28 seconds at 100% whereas I can only grab 1:34 or so.
Is it a problem with my driving (I'm squealing the tires most of the time) or
should I be able to go though the chicanes as quickly as they do?  I am, after
all, below the real-life (1994) track record!

Thanks...

While the AI do need fixing at most of the tracks in ICR2, you should be
able to beat them at Australia.  But, it will take Practice, Practice,
Practice, and a few trips to the garage for some setup tweaks.  You
should be able to take most of the chicanes better than the AI.  However
they have a tendency to outbrake me into the first corner after the
start-finish.

Take your time and practice the track.  At first don't even think about
speed.  You should be concentrating on "SMOOTHNESS" and consitency.
Then start working on a corner at a time.  Once you get that corner
down, start working on another corner.  All the time work on being
smooth and consitent.  Before you know it your lap times will be
dropping and you will find that as long as you don't make any mistakes
the AI won't be able to keep up with you.  Honest, it'll happen.

the chicanes are unrealistic in ICR2.  In the real race you can run on the
corners, but this is the wall in ICR2. I like you have only been able to
do 1:34. Some say that they have done 1:29. Try out Simulator ***world
they have al kinds of Set Ups.

Patrick Carpentier says that, he drove conservatively at Australia,
because of his practice on ICR2.

You oughta try Australia in NASCAR2. . . or Laguna Seca, that's fun. . .
