OT: F1 in Montreal next weekend...

by Dave Pawlikowsk » Tue, 05 Jun 2001 03:07:26

This week, a friend and I are hopping on the bikes and riding the six hours
to Montreal for 4 days of camping and Formula One. My first time to F1 and I
hope the weather holds...

My question is - can we use a scanner / radio and hear the teams talking,
like at NASCAR? I have heard both yes and no to this question from a few
friends, but I know a bunch of you are serious F1 fans.

I hope someone can answer, and maybe supply the frequencies?

Thanks!!

You've found a camping place? Where? :-)

Yes, you can scan the F1 frequencies.  The myth that they are scrambled
isn't true.

We are camping there, and then taking the tram into the track. I haven't
never camped before, this this is also a new experience. Motel rooms were a
fortune, so camping was the alternative...

And thanks for the links!

Hotel rooms are also booked almost a year in advance also.  I was just
wondering about camping, it's a big city, that's like saying I'm going
camping in Chicago ;-)

The guy I'm going with had friends in Austria. They were told that people
could hear over the radio MS screaming that RB wouldn't pull over.

I know why RB did it, but I still think its a bush move this early in the
season. RB deserved second. He raced and fought for it.

No Rubinho didn't deserve second.

First, he inherited the position as a result of Montoya driving
Schumacher off the road, which dropped him down to 6th place while
Rubens was free to fight for the lead.

Then, he was given the possibility to fight with Coulthard at the end
of the race.  He couldn't catch him and just held up Michael.

Second or third place (i.e. 2 points) doesn't make a big difference to
someone who has no real hope of winning the championship and is
trailing his teammate big time points wise.

Everybody in the paddock but Mr. Barrichello knows that he is a
distinct No 2 at Ferrari (everybody but himself!!).  Stop whining. :)
