GPL Team Fix

by Haqsa » Tue, 24 Jun 2003 00:35:47

Upgraded my CPU recently, so that meant installing the GPL CPU patch.  No
problem, but now that means I'm back to having Coventry and Murasama instead
of Cooper and Honda.  So I went looking for the GPL Team Fix and I can't
find one that doesn't predate the CPU patch.  Since it modifies the exe I am
concerned about using it with the CPU patch exe.  Does the team fix work or
has it been updated to work with the CPU patch?  If you know of one that
works with the CPU patch please provide a link.

Thanks,
Hal

Can't help you find a recent one I'm afraid, but if you make a copy of
gpl.exe, then apply the patch you do have, if it doesn't work you can just
delete the modified gpl.exe & restore the backup.

Didn't work.  I saw a link to GPLSeason at the Pits, is it possible that
could be used to do the same thing?  I am not familiar with that program,
but it sounded like it might work.

Don't think so.  If it's what I think it is, it's a util for adding &
removing tracks to the season.ini file without having to manually edit the
file to keep the number of entries at 64 or less.

GPL Season will let you change the team names to whatever you want. Team
Smith for example and your car could be a Pontiac if you like !

It can also change which 11 tracks appear on the fastest laps page. I
recommend it.

However there are other simpler tools. David Wright's Legends of 67 site has
one.

Found this at David Wright's Legends of 67 site:

http://www.legendsof67.free-online.co.uk/Lo67Seasonfix.htm

Don't know if it works with the CPU/speed patch, but I should think it
would.

"It also adds Le Mans Bugatti to your best laps screen (replacing Rouen) and
includes the Legends of 67 Grid Fix"

If I could figure out how to undo the above (since I really like Rouen) that
would do the trick.  I downloaded it anyway, will play around with it later
when I get a chance.  Thanks, Steve.

It doesn't remove Rouen from yer playlist (nor even from yer Championship
sched), only from the Best Laps board.  If you insist on having Rouen on yer
Best Laps page, I think you could probably skip that particular step.

Have you ever tried Neuor?  That's the wrong-way-around version of Rouen.
Like most of those conversions, it transforms the track, and in Rouen's
case, improves it vastly, since that impossible entry to the Nouveau Monde
hairpin becomes the exit.  (I  read somewhere that Rouen was actually run
counter-clockwise on occasion, but have never been able to confirm it).

OTOH, driving Cup cars the right way around Rouen with dave Noonan's
converter is gobsmacking fun....
