GPL: On public display in Australia.

Well, I couldn't beleive my eyes I thought I was dreaming but I got it on
video tape. Tonight while watching "Sports Tonight" on Network 10 here in
Australia there was an interview with Steven Richards (Official Works
test driver for Nissan in Britain out here to do the Tickford 500 race at
Sandown this weekend). Steven was doing a promotion for Revolution Race
Gear signing autographs and driving the "Hyper Stimulator" Racing
Simulator and guess what he was driving ..... GPL at Nurburgring.  Now
I've freezed framed the video tape and replayed it heaps of times and
heres some things that I've noticed.
The Hyper Stimulator promotional signage said "Nurburgring 1967, 134
corners and 22km (there was a lot of other text but was too blurry to
read).
The drivers viewing mode: No arms or steering wheel visible.
Apart from the above, looked like all detail was turned on including full
detail in mirrors (no clouds in the sky though) and everything was
running very smoothly ..... it look breathtaking.
No other AI could be seen.
No evidence of what hardware was being used.
The interview covered up any sound that might have been on.

The total time shown of GPL during the interview would have only been
about 15 seconds.

So I hear you ask the question has GPL been realeased here .... as far as
I know the answer is no so how come it's on display?  I'll just have to
ring the people at Hyper Stimulator tomorrow and find out what's going
on.

Finally the interviewer said to Steven, "these simulators certainly sort
the men out from the boys .... you find out what sort of driver you are
very quickly". To which Steven replied smiling "if that was the case I
wouldn't be a very good one".
