Save your money and get the springs - they revolutionised my amateur season -
suddenly I was competitive. The tyres help a lot as well,

I meant my club season. I won the amateur season first try,

No - I won my first season with 2 wins and a second. I got tyres and maybe
another upgrade during the season. I had raced the demo a lot though so I
wasn't a beginner by any means.

Absolutely!

I went for horsepower too soon, and it took me 17 seasons to get out of
Club :)

You won't win at Silverdale in Club without DOWNFORCE!  I could not
believe how bad my ass was getting kicked at Silverdale, after playing
the Demo for 6 weeks!  You need to buy every bit of downforce and
suspension you can, right off the bat, if you want to progress thru Club
quickly.  You will graduate Club with all options available at that
level purchased, but if you go for the suspension/tires/downforce first
you will get there in 10-12 seasons instead of the 17 it took me.

Oh, well.  At least I had a pot full of money when I did finally hit
Pro:)

I suspect I will be in Pro for weeks.  I've bought everything I can, but
in Pro you actually have to tweak the car at each track to perfection to
graduate.  This will take time...

I don't see how I'm ever going to get out of Pro, even when I qualify first
or second as soon as I get bumped or touched, it sends me to the back of the
pack and finish last by 5 minutes : (  very frustrating.

Hmmm, I'm currently in GT class after 10 seasons in total. I find I
win at Silverdale with "some" downforce, but far from maximum. I'm
usually a good 40-50kmh faster than the AI on the top speed lists.

I've yet to tweak anything on the car at all. So far jsut using
whatever default I'm given at each track. Horsepower and tires were my
first buys, and weight reductions after that. Lack of control I can
deal with, but lack of power cannot be compensated.

Cheers!
John

Most of us aren't that good...

>Most of us aren't that good...

I don't think I am either :-)  Once you start winning (which is pretty
easy early on) you rapidly gain money. If you keep that momentum going
then it's not too tough.

I drive quite a "wide" car as well, especially at Dayton when just
moving up a formula and I lack horsepower compared to the others...
:-)

Cheers!
John
